8 opportunities this week, including Softgames hiring one freelancer to write a casual game's music and sound, and €50–€200 a track for house and EDM you keep ownership of
Also: $100 for a car game's lobby theme, and a student short's dream sequence that turns uncanny.
Softgames, the company behind Bubble Shooter Pro, wants one freelancer to write both the music and the sound effects for an unannounced casual game. A house and EDM soundtrack pays €50–€200 a track and lets you keep ownership; a car game's lobby theme pays $100 for a full buyout. Elsewhere: aggressive techno for a fast sci-fi game about recycling space debris, about 50 seconds of human-made electronic metal for a game trailer at $80, a rhythm game hiring someone to chart its music, and two unpaid shorts, one with a dream sequence that turns uncanny and one a horror short headed for a 2027 festival run. Of the 262 listings I read this week, eight are in the issue.
Professional
SOFTGAMES (Hitmarker) · Paid, rate not stated · Fully remote (scope not stated) · Freelance, project-based; casual F2P game · No deadline stated
The posting says Softgames' Bubble Shooter Pro became a global top-grossing game on Facebook. Now it wants one freelancer to create the music and sound effects for a new, unannounced casual game, a bright, relaxing island world where players combine items, help customers and build a place of their own. The first package is a main theme, seamless gameplay loops and short stingers plus a core sound effects library, and each package is quoted as a fixed fee; more may follow, with no obligation on either side. It asks for a portfolio of shipped games where you made both the music and the effects. It is a full buyout under an NDA, and the music must be free of collecting-society claims, which matters if you are a member of one.
Indie
bi_raccoon (r/gameDevClassifieds) · ~$500 budget · Location not stated · Fast-paced sci-fi game, Steam release planned · No deadline stated
This is a fast, very difficult-to-control sci-fi game in the spirit of Asteroids, in which you have limited time to catch and recycle the space debris left after battles. There is a playable build on itch.io and a commercial Steam release planned. It needs at least three tracks, for the main menu, the main game loop and death, in aggressive, fast, repetitive techno, with Blade as the reference. The post also wants a sound effects artist, paid as a separate job, and gives one budget of around $500 without saying how it splits, but the developer is more than happy to negotiate. A later edit says they are now reviewing candidates, so do not sit on it.
SilverCatMoon (r/gameDevClassifieds) · €50–€200 per track · Location not stated · Game soundtrack, one or more artists · Game releases by end of year
Music will be a prominent part of this game because its gameplay loop is simple. The developer wants easy-looping house and EDM with little or no vocals, from one musician or several, until they are satisfied with the amount of music. It pays 50 to 200 euro per track depending on length, on a non-exclusive, perpetual licence: you keep ownership, can sell the music separately, and each track is credited on screen with your name when it plays. Since the music stays yours to sell elsewhere, the rate is worth more than the figure alone suggests. Existing tracks that fit are welcome, but it is human-made music only, and the developer will ask for proof such as project files or stems.
TisCuddles (r/GameMusicComposition) · $100 flat · Location not stated · Main menu and lobby theme, car game · No deadline stated
One track has to carry this game's identity: the main theme for a fast-paced car game where cars constantly bash into each other. It plays in the menu and in the lobby, where players wait for friends to join, so it has to stay pleasant through 10 to 15 minutes of looping. The brief asks for something catchy and built on a real melody, upbeat with a hint of police chase, with sirens welcome if they are worked in as an instrument; the track itself runs 2 to 3 minutes, as a seamless loop with no fade-out. The $100 buys an exclusive, worldwide and perpetual buyout with no Content ID claims, which is thin for those rights, though the developer says they would pay more if they could. One commenter under the post called $100 for a full rights buyout insulting and suggested an exclusive, perpetual licence instead, which would let the composer keep the rights and go on streaming and selling the track without content-claiming it; others argued that composers accepting terms like these is what makes them normal. That licence is worth proposing before you quote.
Holiday-Tart9934 (r/gameDevClassifieds) · $80 flat · Location not stated · Game trailer music, about 50 seconds · No deadline stated
The developer used AI to make a prototype of the music, to find something they liked, and now wants something in the same genre written by a human: about 50 seconds of electronic metal or alternative rock at 150 BPM, fitted to the trailer. The developer calls the $80 budget quite small; for under a minute of music it is modest rather than poor. Send work in a similar genre.
No-Kaleidoscope-8745 (r/gameDevClassifieds) · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Full-time contract, rhythm game · No deadline stated
The job is building the note charts players play to, across several difficulty levels, working with MIDI and audio tools to time the chart data and refining it through playtesting. It asks for strong musical skills and a trained ear for beats, subdivisions and musical structure, plus MIDI and at least one DAW, Logic Pro preferred, and lists musical training, producing or composing among the pluses. Charting experience is a plus, including community-made charts for osu!, Beat Saber, Clone Hero, StepMania or Friday Night Funkin', so a composer who has charted for rhythm games is the obvious fit. Applications go by email with your CV, examples of charts you have made and your hourly rate, which makes the pay yours to propose.

Film student (r/Filmmakers) · Unpaid · Location not stated · Student short film, one dream sequence · Shoots November 6; score about a month later
A student short about a socially awkward man obsessed with figuring out how to make people like him. Its dream sequence, set in an office, starts almost commercially perfect, warm and idealised, and turns uncomfortable and uncanny as everyone's attention on him becomes overwhelming. The score has to move with the scene, from pleasant and dreamlike to strange and slightly surreal without sounding like horror straight away, until the music becomes unhinged. It is unpaid, with full credit and use of the finished scene and music in your reel, and the filmmaker will send the script, the edited scene and references.
643 Productions (Stage 32) · Unpaid · Phoenix, Arizona · Horror short, in post-production · Listing deadline 20 April 2027
643 Productions, a Phoenix company that says horror is its lane, needs a composer for a horror short in which two brothers rob an elderly couple and discover their terrifying past. Post-production finishes in early December. It is upfront that there is no pay: this is a credit and experience deal, with screen credit, a copy of the finished film for your reel and a 2027 festival run. Send a reel or a sample of your work and you will get stills and more about the film.
