8 opportunities this week, including a full-time slot-game composer job at Playtech and a feature temp-tracked with In the Mood for Love
Also: $300–$400 for a 15-minute thesis film, and an 86-minute psychological horror feature whose director asks the composer to name the fee.
Playtech is hiring a composer onto its Ash studio sound team in Sofia, writing music for online slot games — a full-time staff post, and the only salaried job in this issue. It is home-office rather than location-independent: applicants must already live in Bulgaria. Two features are looking for a composer: an 86-minute psychological horror whose director asks for a quote rather than naming a fee, and a black-and-white drama temp-tracked with In the Mood for Love and The Caretaker. Of the 328 new listings I read this week, eight are in the issue.

Playtech · Paid, rate not stated · Sofia, Bulgaria — home office, must reside in Bulgaria · Full-time · No deadline stated
The role writes in-game music across genres for Playtech's online slot games and designs the sound effects and game packages that go with them, on the Ash studio sound creative team. The bar is a year of composing and sound design in the slot industry specifically. A portfolio of slot-game work is mandatory, not preferred, and the posting asks for video of the final implementation where possible. Playtech has a premium listing on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. The posting says employees can work remotely, but that means a home office rather than working from anywhere: it is filed against Playtech's "Bulgaria - Home Office" site, the application form states that all remote positions based in Sofia require candidates to reside in Bulgaria, and the company says it cannot offer work permits, visa sponsorship or relocation for this role.

SEDT · $300–$400 flat · Nationwide · Short film, 15 minutes · 1 January 2027
A 15-minute thesis film about a guitarist struggling with an addiction who gives a guitar to a pregnant musician, picking up again five years later with her daughter. The $300–$400 is the flat rate for every position on the production rather than a composer-specific rate, and the score has to work around an original song already written for the project. The director is background-checked with five jobs posted, and the final edit is due 10 December.

Prix · $20/hour · Location not stated · 3D animated series · 30 September 2026
Twenty dollars an hour to score a 3D animated series and its upcoming trailer, built around a character learning to handle his emotions and his need to be liked. The rate is hourly and the listing states no hour count. Agree the number of hours before starting. Seven composers had already submitted auditions for the role when this was captured.

Alex Ibarra, writer-dir. · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Feature film, 86 minutes · No deadline stated
An 86-minute independent psychological horror blending surrealism, magical realism and modern-day fantasy, after a score that works as a layer beneath the film rather than one demanding attention. The director's word for what he wants is timeless — music that does not clearly belong to a particular decade or era. Payment runs the other way round from usual: watch the breakdown video, understand the scope, then quote what you think is fair. AI-generated music is ruled out three times in three sentences. No closing date for applications is given, though the score is wanted by 1 January 2027.

Independent production (r/Filmmakers) · Paid, rate not stated · Not stated · Feature film · No deadline stated
A low-budget black-and-white dark drama with a reference set that does more work than most briefs manage. The film is inspired by Taxi Driver, In the Company of Men, Uzak and the novel No Longer Human; the temp tracks have included In the Mood for Love, The Caretaker and the folk singer Matt Elliott. The post asks for something atmospheric and hypnotising yet slightly rhythmic, and describes it as the soundtrack to drinking yourself to death while overlooking a New York skyline. It is a paid gig with no figure attached and no named production behind it, so establish the money early.

zoomity · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Narrative roguelike game · No deadline stated
A 2D narrative roguelike with a vector aesthetic, built in Unity, with the demo largely done and gameplay and visuals being refined. The developer asks for a mix of orchestral and electronic writing but says what they are really after is a unique style, and invites composers whose music is different to get in touch if they think their own style is unique. It is funded out of pocket as a passion project with no figure named, FMOD knowledge is appreciated rather than required, and AI-generated music is ruled out.

Independent developer (r/gameDevClassifieds) · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Visual novel · No deadline stated
Looping background tracks for a visual novel close to completion, briefed on mood rather than musical direction: despair, horror, a little hope, and then the hope pulled away. The developer reckons 45 to 90 seconds is more than enough for each song, and says plainly that they are not musically versed, which is worth knowing before pitching. The price is to be agreed privately, so arrive with a per-track figure.

Solo developer (r/INAT) · Revenue share, no terms stated · Location not stated · Narrative comedy game · No deadline stated
The Red Valve won Best Unreal Engine Game at a large game jam and is being expanded for Steam, and it has a Steam store page. The developer wants a composer to help create a distinct musical identity for the game rather than imitate its references, which are The Stanley Parable, Severance, Portal and Half-Life. The post carries both hobby and revenue-share tags, and the body describes the arrangement as a passion and portfolio collaboration without saying what the revenue share is — settle what the share actually amounts to before committing.
