6 opportunities this week, including a $70k–$130k job that wants eleven musical styles and a short film that needs both action scoring and comedic timing

Also: $150 for ninety seconds of trailer score, and a horror game after around seven tracks and cues.

Aristocrat will pay $70,000 to $130,000 for a sound designer in Reno, and the job description asks for composition in eleven styles, Mariachi and Native American among them. Aristocrat is hiring again in Gurugram. Below those: roughly ninety seconds of trailer score at $150, a light horror multiplayer game after around seven tracks and cues, and two short films — an action comedy, and a dementia short whose director is replacing a composer they could not agree with on tone. Of the 343 new listings I read this week, eleven named a rate on CastingCall.club, from $10 to $500, and not one made the issue: four were audio roles with no music in them, four were rates that did not survive the scope attached to them, and three were gone before I could publish them.

Professional

Sound Designer — Aristocrat

Aristocrat · $70,000–$130,000 per year · Reno, NV · Full time · No deadline stated

The job is titled sound design and the description covers composing music, crafting sound effects and recording voiceovers. What stands out is the stylistic range: Chinese, Japanese, Caribbean, Mariachi, Middle Eastern, African, Indian, Native American, European folk, epic fantasy and vintage American 50s-60s, against a bar of five years on a professional DAW and proficiency on an instrument, ideally piano or guitar. The role is subject to mandatory background screening and regulatory approval, with fingerprinting and gaming-regulator licences possibly required depending on jurisdiction — unusual paperwork for a music job; Aristocrat also says it is unable to sponsor a work visa for this position at this time.

Sr Sound Designer I — Aristocrat

Aristocrat · Paid, rate not stated · Gurugram, India · Full time · No deadline stated

The role composes and produces orchestral, world, pop, rock, jazz and Asian styles, leads sound development for Aristocrat's slot games, and defines implementation requirements for sound packages on assigned projects. The bar is five or more years of music composition experience and a degree in sound or music or the equivalent, with Cubase or Nuendo preferred. No rate is stated, and Aristocrat says it is unable to sponsor work visas for this position at this time.

Indie

Composer — Devoid trailer score

DIGITDILL · $150 · Remote · Game trailer · No deadline stated

$150 for roughly ninety seconds of trailer score, briefed as 90s tracker music with electronic energy and atmospheric float. The footage is live action rather than gameplay and still being edited, and the developer says there is no rush. The poster adds that the trailer is also an opportunity to be considered for the game's soundtrack later, which is worth weighing against the fee.

Music composer — multiplayer horror game

StoneWellGames · Paid, rate not stated · Remote · Multiplayer horror game · No deadline stated

Around seven tracks and cues for a light horror multiplayer game: loopable background tracks for the menu, lobby and main gameplay, provisionally one to three minutes each, plus shorter cues for specific moments and transitions. The team says it will probably also need dynamic music, and gives the example of the music building up when the player is spotted or chased, then settling back down. No rate is stated and they ask applicants for their own pricing, so arrive with a per-minute figure.

Composer — That One Funny Co-Worker

Kyle Muffoletto · Paid, rate not stated · Remote · Short film, about 15 minutes · No deadline stated

An action comedy of about fifteen minutes that needs both halves of that from its score — action scoring and comedic timing, which the post asks to see in past work and says can span more than one project. There is also an email route, with a set subject line. The post says it is looking to hire and names no figure, so settle the rate before any work starts.

Collaborative

Composer — Five More Minutes

Cole J Sheldon, dir. · Payment not mentioned · Remote · Fantasy short film · No deadline stated

A fantasy short about a woman living with late-stage dementia, drawn from personal experience and influenced by the family fantasy films of the 90s and 2000s, Hook and Mrs. Doubtfire among them. The director is replacing a composer they could not find common ground with on the tone and style of the music. Anyone applying should lead with tone; the listing does not mention payment in either direction, which is why it sits here rather than in Indie.
