11 opportunities this week, including Blizzard hiring an associate music producer, and a Sheridan College thesis film that wants its comedy scored with a Gravity Falls edge

Also: battle themes for the remake of a game that went to AGDQ, and $200 for about a minute of game trailer music.

Blizzard is hiring an associate producer for its music and scoring production: a 12-month temporary post at $24.43–$45.19 an hour that asks for solid knowledge of scoring workflows. A Sheridan College thesis film pays $150 for stingers and background music; its brief is what Rick and Morty is to sci-fi, but for dark fantasy. A developer whose game went to AGDQ is remaking it commercially and says they can afford a good composer for its electronic battle themes. Elsewhere: $200 for about a minute of game trailer music, about $105 for a dark adult visual novel's main theme where you keep the rights, orchestral military sci-fi for a capital-ship game, about three songs for an animated band pilot, a two-minute student thesis piece, an animated series' OST and effects at $1,000, a psychological thriller short, and an unpaid Dutch student comedy. Of the 294 listings I read this week, eleven are in the issue.

Professional

Associate Producer, Music – Temp (SFD / Cinematics) — Blizzard Entertainment

Blizzard Entertainment (Blizzard careers) · $24.43–$45.19/hour (US base pay range) · Irvine, CA (hybrid) · 12-month temporary position, starting around end of January or beginning of February 2027 · No deadline stated

Blizzard wants an associate producer to support music and scoring production across all its franchises: working with the Senior Music Producer on schedules, contracts and budgets, booking musicians, studios and engineers for recording sessions, attending those sessions alongside the Music Director and composers, and managing ASCAP/BMI registrations. It is a producer's post, but it asks for a year or more in AAA game development or an equivalent music production environment, and solid knowledge of music production and scoring workflows. Extra points go to familiarity with Blizzard's games and their musical identity, and to experience working with scoring contractors. The home studio is Irvine and the role is expected to be hybrid, though Blizzard says it will work with each person on other options, including remote arrangements. If you are unsure you meet every qualification, Blizzard asks you to apply anyway.

Indie

Composer — game trailer (~1 minute)

StoneWellGames (r/gameDevClassifieds) · $200 · Location not stated · Game trailer music, about 1 minute · No deadline stated

StoneWellGames has a budget of $200 for a track of around a minute to sit under its game trailer. The references are a Pond5 cue billed as cinematic, quirky, percussive dramedy, and an Artlist album called The Mad Scientist; together they point to light comedy. Send previous work by DM.

Composer — 'Angel Quest' (Sheridan College thesis film)

eggbench (CastingCall.club) · $150 flat · Location not stated · 2m30s animated short, thesis film · No deadline stated

A 2m30s Sheridan College fourth-year thesis film: a sitcom-style buddy comedy with dark fantasy undertones, about an angel trying to prevent the end of the world and the corner-store cashier who is his unlucky Chosen One. It needs stingers and background music for the film and its credits, and the director pins the register down unusually well. They want what Rick and Morty is to sci-fi, but for dark fantasy: lighthearted, with enough edge that it could turn dark at any moment, like Brad Breeck's music for Gravity Falls. The $150 has at least two rounds of revisions built in, the music has to follow the rhythm of the animation, and there will be heavy one-on-one contact over changes. Applicants who fit are then given a rough cut and asked for a small sample.

Musician — 'Amidst Anthros' animated pilot

Richard Gonzales (CastingCall.club) · $150 flat · Location not stated · Animated pilot, about 3 songs · New Year deadline

An animated pilot about two friends getting their old band back together in a world of industrialised magic, with the storyboards and voice work done and the animatic being cleaned up. The flat rate covers about three songs, in instrumental hip hop, chill lofi and electronic club styles. You would help the creator, who is eager to try out their own music in FL Studio, on new songs or on improving works in progress. Roughly $50 a song is low, but it is stated up front, payment is by PayPal, and the creator rules out generative AI in any part of the production.

Composer, main theme — dark post-apocalyptic visual novel

Novsomnia (r/gameDevClassifieds) · 2000 MXN (~$105–110) total · Location not stated · Adult visual novel, main theme of 1:20–2:00 · No deadline stated

A solo developer's first commercial visual novel: post-apocalyptic, very dark and yandere-focused, with explicit adult content, and the developer asks to hear only from composers comfortable with that. The priority is one main theme of 1:20 to 2:00 that can carry the trailers and serve as the game's sonic identity: rock or J-rock with possible metal influences, dark, atmospheric and emotional. Three character themes follow if the budget allows. The developer is candid that 2000 MXN (about $105–110) for everything is a very low budget, but to make it more feasible offers a non-exclusive licence, so you keep the rights. Send rock, dark or atmospheric work with your quote for the main theme.

Composer — 'Aperture Abloom' (student thesis film)

Blade Muromoto (CastingCall.club) · $50 flat · Location not stated · Student thesis film, about 2 minutes · No deadline stated

A student thesis film of roughly two minutes, about two girls reflecting on their friendship in nature. It needs one instrumental piece of roughly that length, and there is an inspiration playlist linked on the listing. Any method is fine, real instruments or FL Studio, but no AI, and the director prefers examples made before 2026. $50 is small even for two minutes, but it buys a single piece, and the director especially encourages composers who have scored student films before. The director may sing over the finished piece, and applying counts as consent to that.

Music Composer/Audio Engineer — 'Power Figures'

Abner J. (CastingCall.club) · $1,000 flat · Location not stated · Animated series, OST and sound effects · No deadline stated

A long-term animated series about a university student whose powers change every day, wanting its own OST with a leitmotif, songs that may include lyrics, and the sound effects too, from one person, preferably Brazilian. It is still in planning, with production not expected before 2027 or so; settle what the $1,000 covers, and when it is paid, before committing. The creator asks for a beat you have made and says they will probably accept anything; contact is by DM on Instagram or Twitter, then Discord if selected.

Composer, battle music — 'I'll Invaligate Your Aid Foreaver'

Walladorf (r/INAT) · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Commercial RPG Maker game, battle themes · No deadline stated

Waldorf, who posts as Walladorf, has been making games for 14 years and has finished more than ten short ones; one went to AGDQ this year. They are now remaking that game as a commercial release with a Steam page. It is a meta game with narration, minigames and QTE battles, in which the antagonist knows you are playing and tries to stop you by remapping your controls, moving your mouse and setting a fake shutdown timer. A composer is already on board, but Waldorf wants someone stronger in electronic battle music for a set of battle themes, and says they can afford to hire a good one. The rate is not stated, so name yours; they also want no generative AI used in the game.

Composer — 'For Naught'

Digital_City (r/gameDevClassifieds) · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Sci-fi game soundtrack, about 5 tracks · No deadline stated

A sci-fi game about capital-ship warfare, wanting cinematic orchestral music with a strong military character: powerful brass, driving strings, heavy percussion and occasional subtle sci-fi textures, for both the scale of a fleet battle and the tension aboard a ship under fire. The developer estimates about five tracks, though that could change, and asks for your rates or a rough quote, which makes the money yours to propose. Send orchestral or cinematic examples, and any released games you have worked on.

Score writer — psychological thriller short

Odd-Situation-4071 (r/Filmmakers) · Paid, rate not stated · Location not stated · Short film, about 20 minutes · No deadline stated

A psychological thriller short of around twenty minutes. The poster will send a reference document for mood and tone and then leave you free to work. You are credited if the music is used, and the poster says they will pay a negotiated flat fee too; they hope it becomes a long-term collaboration. The brief is short, so ask to see the reference document before you quote.

Collaborative

Musician — 'Het magische bos' (Dutch student comedy short)

Ren (CastingCall.club) · Unpaid · Off set; filming around Utrecht · Student comedy short, live action and 2D animation · No deadline stated

A group of students is making a mixed-media comedy short, live video plus 2D animation, about two simpletons who set off for a "magical forest" after seeing a weird ad; the very long Dutch title is satire. They need one or two musicians to write music for the scenes, and already have examples and inspiration for all of it. Musicians will not be on set and need not speak Dutch; the only requirement is being communicative. It is unpaid because, in their words, they are just some broke students, and what you get is a portfolio piece.
